If you have decided it’s time to get a new bed, it is often a good idea to start over completely with your bedroom décor. The bed is absolutely central to how the rest of the room will look and feel, as all the other furniture will need to fit around it – both in size and in style.
It’s great to be able to move out of the room into a spare bedroom while you make such fundamental changes. This means you won’t necessarily feel rushed to complete it in as short a time as possible and the results will be better than those you could achieve in a quick turnaround.
Taking all the furniture out of your bedroom also allows you to see it as a blank canvas. It can be difficult to imagine big changes when you have to view the room with furniture in it already.
Draw a plan of the room, and make a note of any fixed obstacles – such as radiators or window ledges and doorframes. If you have odd shaped alcoves you may decide that it’s better to get some fitted wardrobes across one wall. Not only can this help give you room more symmetry, but you’ll gain in storage space as well.
Think about what furniture you want in your new look room. Are you drawn to things like dressing tables or would you rather online casino games have an extra chest of drawers or a blanket box in the space that you have?
Choose a colour scheme that gives the room a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Bright colours may look appealing on the paint pot, but filling a whole wall they may be a bit much. Take some tester pots and experiment before committing to a particular colour.
You don’t necessarily have to spend a fortune on bedroom furnishings. You can buy cheap bedroom oak furniture online, but this doesn’t mean sacrificing on quality. There is so much competition between retailers that there are some great bargains to be had – you just have to take the time to shop around.
Once you have painted the walls and chosen the furniture, you should steam clean the carpet before the furniture is delivered. It’s far easier to do this in an empty room!
